Health Law (with Thesis)

The multifaceted transformation taking place in healthcare services today, together with increasing technological and economic developments in medicine, has inevitably given rise to new legal issues that call for solutions. These developments are reflected in the field of law in various ways, just as they are in medicine. In Türkiye, too, amendments to existing legislation and new regulations introduced in recent years have given health law matters an increasingly prominent place within the core body of legislation.

Alongside health and medical law, newly emerging fields such as pharmaceutical law, medical device law, health tourism, biolaw and medical informatics have rapidly entered legal practice. As a result of these developments, it has become clear that health law is a field with its own doctrine, terminology and practice, requiring advanced specialisation and academic research.

The Master's Program in Health Law (with Thesis), to be offered within the Ankara Medipol University Graduate School of Social Sciences, aims to fill a significant academic gap in the field of health law and ethics in Türkiye through its original and up-to-date perspective on health law and its faculty of expert academics. The program seeks to contribute to increasing scientific research and publications in health law in line with international standards, to provide academic support for the development of policies in this field, and to help shape fundamental legal regulations on a scientific basis.

The program content has been designed with current needs and developments in mind, covering both the theoretical and practical aspects of health law. Within the thesis program, students are required to prepare an original master's thesis, through which they are expected to make effective use of scientific research methods, produce work that contributes to the literature and develop their academic writing skills. Accordingly, the program is designed for students who wish to specialise in depth in health law, pursue an academic career, produce original scientific work, take part in national and international projects and conduct interdisciplinary research.

The Master's Program in Health Law (with Thesis) offers students a strong start to their academic careers while also aiming to train qualified specialists capable of making scientific contributions to the practical areas of health law. Graduates who successfully complete the program will be able to continue their academic careers or take on specialised positions in the healthcare sector, public institutions and private law.
