With advancing technology, the need for more comprehensive tests in the assessment of hearing has emerged. In the field of otology, the outcomes of medical or surgical treatments and operations are discussed on the basis of findings from comprehensive audiological evaluation. In cases where there is no response to the medical and/or surgical treatments provided by the ENT physician, hearing aids and/or auditory implants are the preferred option. The aim is thus to improve the quality of life of individuals with hearing loss and to remove the barriers that prevent them from taking part in life alongside other members of society in educational, psychological and social terms. As these goals grow, greater knowledge and experience are required in diagnosis, treatment and patient care.

Highly valuable books have been written in our country on otology, neuro-otology and audiology. This book contains chapters in which distinguished faculty members and expert authors share their knowledge and experience in ENT, audiology, statistics and the use of laboratory animals in audiology, serving as a reference for professionals working in the fields of ENT and audiology. Over a period of nearly a year and a half, the authors prepared their chapters with great care and dedication and shared their experience. In an age when knowledge becomes outdated very quickly, we hope that this book will be well received by its readers and that any criticism it receives will lead to even better books being written.
