MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Dear Students,
Every birth is a new beginning. Midwifery is a strong and respected health profession that, throughout human history, has accompanied this beginning with knowledge, confidence and care, standing by women and families during the most special moments of their lives.
What makes the midwifery profession unique is the integration of scientific knowledge and professional skill with a person-centred approach to care. Just as important as a midwife's theoretical grounding is how she applies this knowledge in practice: how she approaches women, and how she prioritises their rights, values and individual needs. This forms the foundation of high-quality health care.
As the Department of Midwifery at Ankara Medipol University Faculty of Health Sciences, our aim is to prepare you for the future as expert midwives who closely follow scientific developments, embrace evidence-based practice, uphold ethical values, think critically and are aware of their professional responsibilities, in line with the health needs of our country and our time.
Throughout our programme, we care not only about our students gaining knowledge and technical skills, but also about them developing a strong professional identity, making decisions with confidence, taking an active role in teamwork, and embracing a culture of research and inquiry, as well as lifelong learning, as an integral part of their profession.
Midwifery education is a special journey in which the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom is transformed into deep-rooted experience in clinical and field practice. During this process, guided by our expert faculty members, every piece of knowledge you acquire, every practice you perform and every experience you gain will shape the quality of the care you will provide to women and to society as a whole in the future. This journey will show you that midwifery is not merely a profession, but a responsibility that demands trust, compassion, patience and a deep sense of conscience.
For us, a successful graduate is not only someone who possesses the academic competence their profession requires, but also a health professional who respects women and the natural processes of life, is open to change and growth, carries a sense of social responsibility and adds value to the future of the midwifery profession.
Dear students, choosing the midwifery profession means choosing to touch lives at their very beginning, to take on responsibility and to offer reassurance through the strength of knowledge. I wholeheartedly believe that on this valuable journey each of you will discover your own potential, take your professional competence to the highest level and take your place among the strong midwives of the future.
