Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry 

 Pharmaceutical chemistry is a pharmaceutical science that encompasses the processes of rational design, synthesis, purification and structural elucidation of active pharmaceutical ingredients; examines the relationships between chemical structure and pharmacological activity; and evaluates the metabolic transformations that drug molecules undergo in biological systems. This discipline lies at the heart of drug discovery and development, and aims to transform the production of scientific knowledge into innovative solutions that contribute to public health. 

 The education and research activities carried out in our department focus on the rational design of active pharmaceutical ingredients, the identification of biological targets and the investigation of their interactions at the molecular level. In addition, our core areas of study include the development of new derivatives aimed at improving the efficacy, selectivity and safety profiles of existing drugs, the optimization of synthesis methods, and the scientific evaluation of structure-activity relationships. The research scope of our department also covers understanding the metabolic processes of drug molecules, revealing the relationships between their physicochemical properties and biological behavior, conducting structure elucidation studies, and performing qualitative and quantitative analyses using analytical methods. 

 Our aim is to provide our students with a learning environment that not only builds a strong theoretical foundation but also develops their analytical thinking, problem-solving and research skills, while producing scientific work that can compete at national and international levels. Our main priority is to continue making scientific contributions with an approach that closely follows current developments in pharmaceutical chemistry, remains open to interdisciplinary collaboration and is committed to ethical values.
