Political Science and International Relations (with Thesis)
The first quarter of the 21st century has been characterized by transformations such as structural changes in the global political system, growing multipolarity, the increasing influence of non-state actors, the emergence of new threats ranging from cybersecurity to migration, and the questioning of the liberal order. In this complex period, the functioning of the international system and the strategic choices of political actors have taken on dimensions that call for analysis from an interdisciplinary perspective. Topics such as modern political theory, comparative political systems, foreign policy analysis, security studies, human rights norms and the transformation of international law require theoretical depth and methodological expertise beyond the knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level.
Established in response to this need, the Ankara Medipol University Master’s Program in Political Science and International Relations aims to provide students with a solid historical, theoretical and methodological foundation and to equip them with interdisciplinary competence in the core approaches and subfields of international relations and political science; to enhance graduates’ employability in the public sector, the private sector and international organizations by providing practice-oriented experience and skills within the framework of the national and international project management cycle; and to contribute to the building of a sustainable institutional academic structure.
Political Science and International Relations is a discipline with not only an academic but also a strong professional and practical dimension. A master’s degree has often become a prerequisite for positions requiring expertise, policy analysis, reporting, negotiation and diplomacy skills in fields such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, public institutions, civil society organizations, international organizations, the media and strategic research centers. Conducting the program in Ankara also offers a significant strategic advantage. As the capital, Ankara is home to a high concentration of Türkiye’s political decision-making bodies, ministries, foreign missions, embassies, think tanks, offices of international organizations and academic research centers. This unique location provides our students with excellent opportunities to observe decision-making processes first-hand, connect with experts, complete internships, conduct field research and take part in applied training activities.
The Ankara Medipol University Master’s Program in Political Science and International Relations (with Thesis) aims to train experts and future academics of high academic caliber who can build strong links between theory and practice, interpret national and international developments from multiple perspectives, uphold ethical values and possess strong analytical thinking skills. The program offers its students a robust intellectual foundation that enables them to understand, interpret and shape a changing world.
