Workshops, Listening Sessions, Performances …
The first of the MIMS+ events took place on 24 October 2022 at the Architecture Center of the Turkish Freelance Architects Association, featuring a presentation titled “Consuming Everything” by architect Ali Dur (M.Arch.), followed by a talk. The event hosted a rich environment of sharing and interaction, bringing together students of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design at Ankara Medipol University as well as academics and students from the architecture and interior architecture departments of various universities in Ankara.
Beyond a defined curriculum, architecture and design education is nourished by communication-oriented, interactive, up-to-date, bold and curious/inquisitive environments for thinking, discussion, learning and production. In addition to the dynamics of the regular and continuous participants of this environment (faculty members and students), adding momentum to education through the dynamics of guests from professional practice or academia who become involved in and contribute to the process, multiplying environments for education, thinking and discussion, and creating different axes are all highly important for enriching architecture and design education, increasing interdisciplinary interaction, and creating multi-voiced environments for thinking and discussion. This contributes not only to professional knowledge and experience, but also to building an intellectual foundation and a visual and literary culture.
MİMS+ events aim to multiply the interfaces through which students can develop, represent and discuss their ideas, not only through sharing activities such as seminars, talks and presentations, but also through workshops, digital or physical productions, intellectual discussions and competitions.
Integrated into design education, MİMS+ invites professionals, academics, students and all relevant groups to an interactive and productive environment of discussion in order to follow and be part of changing and evolving technology, to recognize and interpret the constants and variables of design culture, and to experience the theoretical and methodological diversity of production.
