Ankara Medipol University Hosted the 5th CloudEARTHi Conference

Ankara Medipol University hosted the 5th CloudEARTHi Conference, which brought together international representatives of the deep technology, sustainability and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Welcoming approximately 500 guests from 17 countries, the Conference opened with speeches by our Rector Prof. Dr. Tolga Tolunay; Bülent Özcan, Director General for Financial Cooperation and Project Implementation at the Directorate for EU Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Dr. Tamer Abu-Alam, Coordinator of the CloudEARTHi Initiative; and Yasin Şahin, Project Manager at our Technology Transfer Office.

As part of the Conference, our University signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with 40 institutions to strengthen its international collaborations. These institutions include the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland (Austria), Kumasi Technical University (Ghana), Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University (Ukraine), Józef Gołuchowski University of Applied Sciences (Poland), Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Romania), European University of Tirana (Albania) and the University of Trieste (Italy).

The panels and sessions held throughout the Conference featured numerous international experts, including Prof. Yasser Elshayeb (Egypt), Assoc. Prof. Angel Marinov (Bulgaria), Assoc. Prof. Oleksii Sergiyovych Milenin (Ukraine), Assoc. Prof. Dana Lupsa-Tataru (Romania), Dr. Verena Liszt-Rohlf (Austria), Dr. Tamer Abu-Alam (Norway), Dr. Evgeny Tsaplin (Serbia), Dr. Alparslan Güzey (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus), Brian Baptista (Denmark), Thomas Kösters (Germany), Elena Milli (Italy), Dimitar Vasilev (Bulgaria), Michael Mandamadiotis (Greece) and Hüseyin Can Çakıcı (Estonia), as well as subject experts from various provinces of Türkiye. Prof. Dr. Abuzer Pınar, Assoc. Prof. Şeyma Osmanlıoğlu Coşkun, Assoc. Prof. Olcay Okun and Assist. Prof. Erdem Ayçiçek from our University also took part as speakers.

Our faculty members Assist. Prof. Dilara Berrak Tarhan, Assist. Prof. Sinem Cece and Assist. Prof. Erdem Ayçiçek contributed to the event with oral presentations. Following the evaluations, Mirkan Emir Sancak (Türkiye) received the “Best Oral Presentation” award, Assist. Prof. Vesela Dicheva (Bulgaria) the “Best Poster” award, and Sol Heber (Portugal) the “Best Project” award.
