Histology and Embryology

The master's program is conducted in Turkish over a period of two years within the Ankara Medipol University Institute of Health Sciences, under the Department of Histology and Embryology of the Faculty of Medicine. The program examines the cells, tissues and systems that make up the human body together with their embryological development, with an emphasis on the relationship between fine structure and function and on scientific research skills. Both during their studies and after earning their master's degree, students may take part in stem cell research, which in recent years has shown promise in the treatment of many diseases, and may contribute to tissue engineering research in the field of regenerative and restorative medicine. Graduates of the program may work as researchers in units specializing in reproductive embryology. With the ability to follow and effectively use new technologies in micro-imaging and to think creatively in this field, they may also find opportunities to work in the production and application of microscopy technologies. Students who earn a master's degree may continue on to doctoral studies and advance in an academic career.
